MEK COLLECTION is the latest project designed by the Melbourne based designer Fabio Biavaschi and made by the artisan Italian company Bosisio Mobili.
It was officially exhibited during the “FuoriSalone” at the Milan Design Week in April 2014.
The idea for the MEK FURNISHING COLLECTION is focused on the concept to enjoy the time while building your own furniture!
The first product of this collection is MEK_ac01, an armchair made of wood ash light.
It is packed completely dismantled to be assembled by following the almost elementary "installation instructions", simplified by the fact that it is not needed any special equipment but your own hands.
The chair has a static side, the structure, and an ergonomic one, the seat and the back that can be assembled together using special joints.
The seat and the back are rigid but they assume an inclination proper to reach a right and healthy posture.
The chair’s panels are made of light ash veneered plywood left to its natural appearance on one side and painted on the other.
The chair’s structure is in solid ashwood and it is treated with wax to leave a natural finish touch.
MEK_ac01 is a sustainable product, given the absence of adhesives and the application of natural finishes. The packaging is also reduced to minimum size containing the components disassembled.
MEK_ac01 is the first product of the MEK COLLECTION currently in production. It is available for youth and adults with the 2 versions MEK_KIDS and MEK_BIG.
MEK_ac01 WON AS BEST COMMERCIAL PRODUCT 2014 at VIVID/FURNITEX in MELBOURNE July 2014
It has been also selected and exhibited at WORKSHOPPED 14 in Sydney August 2014
A new complement of the same collection has been designed and it will be launched in Melbourne during the exhibition MELBOURNE FRINGE FURNITURE from 17 September to 5 October 2014.
