Khalima had a wardrobe malfunction, almost lost her top, but didn't let that stop her performance.
Khalima is a sought after Richmond, Virginia based fusion bellydancer, instructor, singer, and artistic madwoman. She brings together her background in visual art, music, body modification and adornment, and a lifelong passion for metaphor and things that shine into a unique, fun, and cutting-edge form of bellydance and theatrical performance that spans a range of style and subject. She has been lovingly described as “poetry in motion” and as “being the music.”
Khalima is also the owner of lllumination Dance Studio, and is the creatrix and director of Raqs Luminaire, Richmond’s own live music and light-up theatrical bellydance spectacular. She teaches a delicious blend of Orientale Fusion bellydance, and pulls from her training in pre- and postnatal yoga instruction, study with Suhaila Salimpour, Sahra Saeeda, and many others in her classes and in her strong technical base in performance. Khalima travels nationally, her own brand of dance shenanigans in tow, and holds down the fort in Richmond with The Happy Lucky Combo and with her accordionist sidekick as Professor Bless and the Dancing Madwoman.
