Since the release of their 2006 demo, Sydney hardcore outfit Relentless have steadily built a solid fanbase, which has taken them all across Australia as well as into South-East Asia.
It wasn’t long after the release of their debut, that Australian label Dogfight Records signed the band to release their debut EP Opposition To Control (2008). From there it wasn’t long until bands all over Australia were asking who this young band were, marking them as a name for fans of straight up hardcore to keep an eye on. In 2010, Relentless released their debut full-length Set In Stone. The album further affirmed the band’s reputation as one of Australia’s rising hardcore stars, featuring 11 tracks of what had become Relentless’ trademark, straight-up, Sydney hardcore style.
At this point, word of the band spread internationally, earning them comparisons to the likes of Madball, as they played Hamtown Smackdown in Hamilton New Zealand and headlines a three week tour of South East Asia, including Thailand, the Phillipines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Following a national support slot on Trapped Under Ice’s second Australian tour earlier this year, Relentless decided to return to the studio, this time deciding to take a step up and source outside production help. Enter Nick Jett (Terror, Piece By Piece) into the picture, not only to produce the record in Sydney, but also to track and mix the final product.
Relentless and Nick are set to hit the studio for a bit over two weeks of gruelling recording at the end of June, where the whisper is that that final result will be a follow up of pure hardcore gold. With plans of an October release here in Australia, the band already have an extensive touring schedule planned from release until June 2013. This includes a return visit to South East Asia, as well as interest from American and European booking agencies.
