I am pleased to announce that Glenn Mckeva Wiggins will be presenting his first clothing collection Coupe de Foudre: The Row. Glenn will be featured as a student designer for the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, and Design of Alabama A&M University. The show is entitled “Maison de Mode G.L.I.N.T.S.” in which Glenn will be featured amongst five other student designers. The fashion show will take place on April 24th at 7:30pm Alabama A&M University Clyde-Foster Multipurpose Room.
Glenn is a native from Mobile, Alabama a city more known for the birthplace of the annual Mardi Gras. The city itself has never been considered a place where style and design meet at an inspirational avenue for fashion designers. With the grave passion that Glenn shared in regards to menswear this passion allotted him the opportunity to work with some of the best within the Mobile area. This helped Glenn catapult into the fashion industry and work alongside individuals include Greg & Nancy Harvell local men’s clothier owner, and Kenneth Tailor a master tailor.
As Glenn transitioned into his college years at Alabama A&M University he was considered a very influential figure for style and elegance amongst his peers. This impact lead Glenn to receiving outstanding awards nominated and voted on by the student body: Best Dressed Male, Best Male Model, Best Campus Event, and Party of the Year.
After grabbing success on the campus of Alabama A&M University just was not enough for Mr. Wiggins; as he decided to take his talents and ambitions to the number one fashion capital, London, England. This trip was quoted by Glenn as an “American Dream”. While in London Glenn studied the art of bespoke tailoring at the Nylander Couture House. In addition, he worked on the production team for the Graduate Fashion Week the world’s largest graduate fashion showcase and exhibition. Glenn was more fascinated with bespoke tailoring as he went on to perform research and explore on Savile Row. Savile Row is the birthplace of English Tailoring where tailoring firms have been responsible for creating garments for some of the world’s most prominent individuals: The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth II, and many more. Glenn was amazed by the things he was able to learn, and be inspired by the craftsmanship performed by tailors on Savile Row.
The collection Glenn will be presenting is deeply inspired by his expedition to Savile Row as the name of the collection eludes. Glenn feels this collection is more sentimental than and just as important as anything he has accomplished thus far within his 22 years of living. “ The collection is an extension of myself and each piece has a SPECIAL location it belongs to” quoted by Glenn.
We are pleased to announce that Glenn Wiggins is taking a giant leap forward into his career and we look forward to seeing you on April 24th at 7:30pm Alabama A&M University Clyde-Foster Multipurpose Room.
