A Film about the protests on the University Square in Bucharest. An insight into a society, impressions of a city, if nothing else, a political statement.
January 2012: A series of protests broke out in major cities all across Romania, the biggest riots since the Revolution of 1989/90. During the course of these recent events, the University Square in Bucharest has played a special role, for it is here that people gathered to protest against the government for over six months. And even if the actions are no longer visible on the streets, they continue via social networks on the internet. The ideas and demands of the demonstrators are comparable to those heard among protesters involved in international movements such as Occupy or Indignados. This worldwide mobilization shows that something is about to emerge, something beyond communism or capitalism, something that might be comprehensible under the extended definition of art.
