The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, presents the multidisciplinary manifestation BACK STAGE ON STAGE during the Salone del Mobile, Milan, 2014. SUBJECT VS. OBJECT is one of the performances featured in the show.
n her performances, installations and video works visual artist Katinka van Gorkum investigates the relationship between objects, between object and subject and between object and maker. What makes the manifestation BACK STAGE ON STAGE special is its focus on the making process and the relationship between objects and makers.
In the run-up to the exhibition Katinka van Gorkum investigated these various connections by means of an amorphous object. The object was devised to be empathic and inviting to be touched, used, cared for and petted. Next to the live performances three video works will be presented that show Katinka van Gorkum’s research into object, subject and maker.
