pan SRUC seminar by Sarah Hall, SRUC on 10th of April 2014.
The talk will be covering the work of the Biomarkers Lab.
The Biomarkers Lab is a research laboratory based within Animal & Veterinary Sciences. Over the last couple of years we have developed a number of techniques that are available to other members of SRUC research staff. I will talk about the techniques we have on offer, both routine (DNA/RNA extraction, Spectrophotometric assay & blood processing) as well as the development of new techniques, such as Fluorescent microsphere immunoassays (FMIA) to measure cytokines and other proteins. We also have resources to measure glucocorticoids, such as cortisol and cortisone using enzyme linked immunoassays (ELISA). We are also interested in developing non-invasive biomarkers. If you have an interest in lab-based measurements or are curious about how they might be integrated you’re your research, please come along.
