The Museum of Miniature is ...
The creative initiative of collaborating artists Marie Brett and Tess Leak. A pop-up art installation housing hundreds of miniature-world-dioramas that ‘fit into the palm of your hand’.
Since its inauguration in 2012, when 143 artists gifted works from Austria, Hawaii, Germany, Chile, Newfoundland, Ireland, the UK and Australia; the museum has grown in size and proportion and toured to unusual bespoke settings including seven West Cork islands.
This video with RTE Lyric FM soundtrack documents the first ever museum which launched as part of Skibbereen Arts Festival in 2012 and was presented for five days in a three story Georgian town-house. Over 250 miniature artworks were located within ten rooms/spaces, having been posted from numerous parts of the world. Included was the 'John Erickson Museum of Art', from America, which was guest curated by Annette Moloney.
