Over the summer of 2013, I visited Cambodia & Vietnam with my fellow church members to engage in ministry with people of all ages. I decided that I wanted to conduct my senior projects in Cambodia. The senior projects include an academic passion, a community involvement passion, and a personal passion.
The academic passion portion of the project consisted of an ongoing research on the health impacts of air pollution on heart health in Cambodia and Vietnam. The community involvement aspect of my project involved working and bonding with the students and adults in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as well as Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for two and a half weeks. Finally, the personal passion part involved a motivational speech that I wrote and shared several times in Cambodia. My motivational speech consisted of my personal passion for medicine and working with people, and an encouragement to the young adults in the room to pursue their career interests no matter what they were, and to spread the love of God through their work.
From my time in Cambodia and Vietnam, I've developed and confirmed my ardor for working with children and adults. I would love to continue traveling abroad for mission work, study abroad programs, or medical mission trips! I encourage you all to pray for the restorations of Cambodia and Vietnam! The people are incredibly brave, beautiful, warm-hearted, and among the best people you'll meet in your life.
