15 minutes before race time I was out pre-riding the course. I heard the sound you never want to hear- The 'burp' of my back tubeless tire loosing a seal. I remembered seeing the "Stan's No-Tubes" booth somewhere at the Sea Otter, but I didn't know where. I ran with my bike for what must have been about a mile, through crowds, back and forth, before finding the right booth. I burst in, pleading, "Help! Emergency!" One of the Stan's techs poured some new sealant in the tire, and upon inflation, the bead held! With less than 5 minutes to race time I hopped a five foot fence, cement wall, and tire barrier to get to the course. Sprinting down the track, I rolled up to the back of the pack with about 30 seconds to spare! Phew!
A lot of traffic and funnel points made this course difficult to make up ground.
