Dr.Nadia Abdelaziz Awad, 73, has been dedicating herself to the career of music education for over half a century. She started to run the children choir in Cairo Opera House in 1994,and kept her insistence and affection on her children. Since 2011 when Egypt came into turmoil, Nadia and her choir was the only one in Cairo Opera House who did not quit any rehearsal and performance."Art will go on whatever happens." This is Nadia's motto, and her lesson given to children.
The first time I met Nadia and her choir on an activity in Al-Azhar Park, Cairo, organized by UNDP, September, 2013, I was moved by children's voice. During the following 6 months, I and my colleague, Nan Zhang, filmed and photographed the group from rehearsals every Thursday evening to performance here and there. Today, I would like to share the story of Nadia and her choir to inspire those who are suffering the unrest situation, and to tell the world that turmoil is not everything in this country.
