This is the new BaseA bracket system by Bracket 1.
Hi, this is Erik Nasu and today I’m going to show you the new Bracket 1 BaseA Handle Mounted bracket system by Bracket 1.
There are three styles of bracket systems currently offered by Bracket 1; the original under camera mounted bracket system which attaches to your camera’s tripod mounting hole underneath the camera; the cold shoe systems, mounting either from the top or bottom of your camera; and the new BaseA system which attaches to 1/4-20 threaded holes on top of your camera handle.
All of these systems allow tripod mounting or easy hand-held shooting with unimpeded use of all your camera’s controls. They’re constructed of lightweight aluminum, have stainless steel threaded inserts for durability and are made right here in the USA.
So let’s have a look at the BaseA system by Bracket 1. This bracket system attaches to ¼-20 threaded holes on top of your camera or camera’s handle. The base of the BaseA system comes in three similar models; Model 1 has two mounting screws an inch and a half apart, front to back (when on the camera) for cameras like this Panasonic. Model 2 has two mounting screws an inch and a half apart side to side for cameras like the Sony FS100 & 700; Model 3 has just one mounting screw for most any camcorder with at least one ¼-20 threaded hole on the top. If you’re not sure which one best fits your camera you can use the Bracket Finder function on the website to determine the correct version for your camera.
Like most Bracket 1 products, this is a modular system. The bracket base has six ¼-20 threaded holes on the side. While you can attach some gear here directly, the idea is to build a custom rig using this as the base. Two mounting plates are available; an accessory mounting plate that has industry standard, 4 bolt offset pattern in multiple positions for receiver boxes and Quick Plates on both sides of the plate; and a Battery Mounting Plate with has the same bolt patterns for receiver boxes and plates on one side, and bolt patterns for IDX and Anton Bauer Battery systems on the other side. Additionally, you can add adapters to position mounting surfaces in most any direction; allowing a fully customizable rig. Adapters include a Quick Release for the Accessory Plate and Battery Plate, a 45 degree adapter, a short 90 adapter, a long 90 adapter, a 180 adapter, a black magic shuttle cradle and KiPro Mini cradle. Additionally, the screws connecting the base to your camera are threaded on top as well, allowing additional mounting points for gear as well as the ability to stack a second base, giving you platforms to build from on each side of the camera.
The T-handle screws make removing components from your camera or changing the configuration quick and easy.
Well, as you can see, this is a light weight and versatile mounting system for your camera and gear!
