. . .
Meet Norbert. He's 14 years-old, lives in Toronto, and loves to box. He's also a Roma refugee claimant from Hungary, meaning his life in Canada is threatened daily by possible deportation.
The Fight To Stay is a documentary that explores the challenges of Bill C-31, a controversial bill which cuts funding to Canada's refugee healthcare program and makes it much harder for many refugees claimants to stay in Canada. It's a bill that targets people like Norbert: Roma, an ethnic minority that has experienced widespread racism throughout history in many parts of the world, Canada included.
Despite the public outcry from the country's medical institutions, Bill C-31 is here to stay. As for Norbert, his fight continues. This is his story.
