This archival 79-minute video shows the 1987 Beyond War Award recipient -- THE PEACE CORPS and its 120,000 past and present Returning Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs). The annual Beyond War Award for eight years (1983-1990) honored the great efforts of individuals, groups, and nations as humankind moves to build a world beyond war. In the mid-1980s, the Beyond War Movement had over 24,000 active members in twenty-three states and internationally understanding that war had become obsolete and conflicts must be resolved without violence. Volunteer citizen-educators hosted thousands of "Interest Evenings" and hundreds of "Orientation Meetings" in living rooms and classrooms across the United States, and in Canada and Germany.
