For more than fifty years, the endeavor called social and economic development has touched every aspect of life. Globally, hundreds of thousands of organizations are working to bring prosperity to the people of the world.
Yet many of those involved in this effort share a commom concern - that development has not been able to achieve its goals. In light of this, leaders of thought in Asia, Latin America and Africa have recently started to examine fundamental questions about the well-being and advancement of the world's peoples.
In Uganda, a group drawn from different organizations and areas of concern has come together to contribute to an emerging discourse on science, religion and development. "Opening a Space" explores their views as they examine some of the underlying assumptions and premises upon which development has been built. Their hope is to find solutions to some of the challenges facing their country.
