'Perception' an avant-garde experiment that invites audiences on an immersive journey into the uncharted realms of perception. Set against the backdrop of a dada dinner party, the film challenges the conventional boundaries of sensory experience, weaving together a tapestry of sights, sounds, tastes, and textures in a mesmerizing exploration of the human sensorium.
A group project between longtime collaborators and friends, 'Perception' came alive during a conversation around winter, food and togetherness. Laura envisioned an oversized eye-shaped dinner table adorned with inedible food items (escargot shells, dried tapioca balls, fish eyes and chunks of raw ginger). Jess created an original painting on the table covering in situ; emphasizing and accentuating the elaborate table creation.
Amanda captured both the preparation of the table as well as the dinner itself. The film functions as a documentation of the piece as performance and installation, as well as a standalone experimental art film.
With a shared fascination of light, texture, sound, and energy exchanged between people; Amanda, Laura and Jess continue their exploration of these themes with 'Perception'.
