Seen through a child’s eyes, Papa, depicts a story about innocence, the unknown and the inevitable maturity that occurs with life-changing experiences. Seven-year-old Janeka, is visiting her mother’s childhood home in Jamaica, for the first time. These foreign surroundings produce new smells, sights and sounds. A mysterious person is kept at bay behind a closed door. This produces fear and a strong curiosity in the young child. Janeka will ultimately discover the joys and heartaches that come with life.
