Dr. Frank Lixing Tang is professor of Foreign Language Education at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University. He created NYU’s Chinese language teacher education program as early as 1999. He has served as the director of NYU’s Multilingual Multicultural Studies (TESOL/Foreign Language Education/Bilingual Education) program for 15 years and he currently serves as Principal Investigator of NYU's Project for Developing Chinese Language Teachers (DCLT) and Summer Startalk program on immersion teacher development. He has been a second/foreign language teacher and teacher educator in both China and the U.S. for over thirty years. His research interests include humanistic approach to second/foreign language teaching, brain-compatible learning, and teacher development. He has published widely in teaching pedagogy, professional development, and educating students with interrupted formal education (SIFE).
