This is a video of the installation I created as part of IIDEX 2012. The installation was sponsored by HP and the video features their logo.
The installation was not only a technical exploration of the various applications of large format printing but more importantly a totally fabricated world. Postmodernist French social theorist Jean Baudrillard argues that a simulacrum is not a copy of the real, but becomes truth in its own right: the hyperreal.
The container for the installation was an 18 wheel tractor trailer but the environment that was created was the "deep woods" experience. A transportation to the hyperreal.
As an artist I am interested in using realistic photography to create textures that are like visual puns: the image of a person seated in a chair, the fire box with the fire "crackling" inside, but the photo techniques I use are not precise they indicate adding to the emotion of a secret world , a new environment similar to the woods experience but totally made of flat images, a hall of mirrors or house of cards.
The sound track is some frogs in a giant river bog on the Humber river in Toronto.
