Being a Land Rover fanatic for 22 years now I was totally honored be asked back for a second year of Producing and Directing this exciting project for Warren Miller Entertainment and Land Rover USA. This years version also had the element of providing visuals to promote the 25th Anniversary Adventure of the Land Rover Classic Great Divide Expedition and the "Tread Lightly" Program.
The high mountain passes in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado are spectacular to say the least.
These projects require an incredible amount of coordinating long before cameras roll.
Special thanks to Ken Bracht and Bob Burns from Land Rover. EP Jeff Moore and Producer Ginger Sheehy at Warren Miller. DP/Cameraman Tom Day for his awesome visuals and time-lapse work.
Scott Ransom for jumping on board for a couple of critical shoot days and Soren and James Jensen for providing yet another great RC aerials package. Tucker Noury for all the late nights processing footage and some rough cuts that were a big hit for all the participants. These are tough projects that require a certain breed of filmmaker. Super long days, altitudes above 13,000 ft., weather, mud and constantly being on the move are just the tip of the iceberg. This year we had some pretty bad weather and challenging trails (Descending Poughkeepsie Gulch in the rain especially) that required winching vehicles safely down some super slippery slopes. I just hope we get a chance to do it again next year!!
