This little nook in the Southwest corner of Brazil has become my home. Rio Grande Do Sul is a state that has a pretty varied ethnic background, far less Portuguese than the east coast, and certainly much more European. Upon arriving here, it dawned on me that I didn't really even appear to be a foreigner. People would walk up to me and ask me questions, because like many of the folks here, I have light hair and blue eyes.
This town has been very kind to me. The people within it live a good life for the most part, all of them with a sense of belonging, and at least some form of direction. My coworkers Charlie and Annie and I, have befriended a wonderful group of folks. Every willing to say yes, ever willing to be a part of something new.
I'm in a good spot.
