at Cartwright, our lamps are made in the tradition of the Venetian masters,
but liberated by our american perspective. a lamp gives focus and expression
to a space, and we gravitate to the areas they inhabit, because light is the hearth
of a room. We believe it is possible to make objects today that will become
the heirlooms of tomorrow.
Canne is used to create a rigid geometry in the glass which
in its molten state is fluid and difficult to control.
Lattimo is used to layer color, creating the softness of cashmere,
in the glass which in it’s cooled state is commonly brittle.
Sommerso, an envelope of clear glass, is used to suspend color
in a floating world.
