Last summer, I spent two weeks in paradise. After scoring some fun waves at the beginning of our trip, one of the largest swells to hit Teahupoo in recent memory arrived. During the building swell, our boat was caught inside by a west set that closed out the channel. This is the footage of those events from my camcorder's memory card before all of the cameras on board were destroyed by the rogue wave.
Special thanks to Tahurai Henry for the accommodations, all the Tahitian riders for sharing their beautiful culture and waves, Simon Thornton and Ryan Gallina for the transportation, Inaldo Vieira and Tristan Farmer for showing us the ropes out at Chopes, and Omid Moraveji for putting up with my snoring at night and negativity during the week long flat spell leading up to the mega swell.
