Our video guest this week is Mr. Carl Haub. He is a senior demographer and holder of the Conrad Taeuber Chair of Population Information at the Population Reference Bureau in Washington where he has been employed since 1979.On the occasion of his intervention at the Brussels Development Briefing on population growth and its implications for rural areas in ACP countries, Mr.Carl Haub explained the current trends of population growth in the world. He presented poverty as an obstacle for the adoption of policies to address population growth. However, Mr. Carl Haub also pointed at some false interpretations of demographic figures. He therefore spoke about the necessity to have accurate statistics and their rightful contextualization.
