TECHNICAL DETAILS: RETRO-VIDEO FILM CONCEPT:
This film was shot in black and white digital video using a Sony TRV-38 mini-DV recorder, then post-processed through an analogue-to-digital converter using one of the first consumer hardware digitizers ever made: The 1987-vintage LIVE! digitizer by A-Squared attached to the sidecar expansion slot of a 1985 Commodore Amiga 1000 computer. The image processing software used was “Invision” by Elan Design, from the same era, allowing the digital artist to colorize the digitized video. The colorization was performed in real time using the keyboard and mouse of the Amiga. The digitized and colorized (painted) video was output from the Commodore Amiga 1000’s composite video port to a PC equipped with an early 2000 Nvidia GeForce 5700 Personal Cinema capture card, thus allowing the video to be placed in the timeline of the video editor (Magix Movie Edit Pro) to complete the post-production. The entire B&W video tape capture in the Amiga, the digital painting, export and PC capture was all in real-time!
