This project is something I have wanted to begin for a couple of years. I just purchased a Panasonic GH4 and decided to use it on its maiden voyage to capture the first motion imagery of this beautiful property.
Oxbow Nature Preserve is located in the Russett Community on the Eastern edge of Laurel, MD just off of MD198. It is an amazing wetlands landscape that is mostly dormant in winter but awakens in Spring. There are many species of birds, many types of reptiles, a full range of small (and not so small) mammals like squirrels, deer, and beavers (to name but a few) and a huge cross section of plant life and trees. This early in spring the animal life is not particularly visible nor active, but by mid Summer, the landscape will be alive with activity all day and night! I especially like the tranquility of this plot of land tucked into a suburban development - but it is more tranquil than usual at this time of year with the trees just beginning to bud and the animals just awakening to the warming of early spring. For those interested, specs - Panasonic GH4, 1080P, 30fps, 100mbs IPB, Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 zoom lens, Panasonic 45-200 f4-5.6 zoom lens.
