Ziv began his career in publishing as a literary agent in 1982 at Pikarski Ltd. When Israel's largest trade publishers, Kinneret and Zmora Bitan Dvir merged in 2002, he was given the opportunity to run the rights and acquisitions department with responsibility for all international scouting operations.
Kinneret Zmora Dvir are currently publishing 280 new titles a year, of which over half are translations. The company is also a partner in the Tsomet Sefarim (Book Junction) chain of 84 bookstores throughout Israel. They publish popular and literary fiction, popular science and psychology, young adult, new adult and children's books and employ literary scouts in London, Paris and New York.
Each year the Visiting International Publishers (VIPs) initiative invites to Australia international editors, publishers and literary agents to attend a week-long program of meetings, events and industry discussions.
The program is designed to promote rights sales of Australian titles in international markets, and to strengthen links between Australian publishers and the international publishing industry.
The 2014 Visiting International Publishers program took place alongside Adelaide Writers' Week, from Saturday 1 - Thursday 6 March 2014, and our visitors represented markets in France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Poland, South Korea, Spain, the UK and USA.
The program included over 260 one to one meetings for publishers, a lively networking lunch, a panel event within Adelaide Writers' Week and an industry forum with sessions on current international markets, and territoriality and rights.
