Editor in Chief at Europa Editions
Michael Reynolds has been at Europa Editions since the company was founded in 2004. He was born in Australia and currently lives in New York.
Reynolds acquires between ten to fifteen titles a year (about one-third of the titles published yearly by Europa Editions) of contemporary literary fiction and high-end crime fiction. He favors work by authors with a distinct voice and a compelling story to tell over experimental fiction or self-consciously avant-garde literature. The Europa list does not currently include works of poetry, memoir, and newsy non-fiction. The list does include a few works of narrative non-fiction and some collections of short stories.
Each year the Visiting International Publishers initiative invites to Australia international editors, publishers and literary agents to attend a week-long program of meetings, events and industry discussions.
The program is designed to promote rights sales of Australian titles in international markets, and to strengthen links between Australian publishers and the international publishing industry.
The 2014 Visiting International Publishers program took place alongside Adelaide Writers' Week, from Saturday 1 - Thursday 6 March 2014, and our visitors represented markets in France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Poland, South Korea, Spain, the UK and USA.
The program included over 260 one to one meetings for publishers, a lively networking lunch, a panel event within Adelaide Writers' Week and an industry forum with sessions on current international markets, and territoriality and rights.
