The “No BOBO” ride will challenge the oil and gas industry’s myth that it is a benevolent (if not benign) force in Louisiana by highlighting some of its incalculable tolls on life, in health, property, and culture. In places as varied as the Bayou Corne sinkhole, the dissolving coastlines of Vermillion and Cameron parishes, the chemically poisoned community of Mossville, and the dangerous Standard Heights Exxon refinery in Baton Rouge, the GreenARMY has scheduled forums in which affected citizens can recount their experiences to create a seamless narrative of industry devastation upon Louisiana’s air, water, and land. The tour will also address concerns in the Florida parishes at stops in Hammond and Abita Springs about threats to air and groundwater from proposed fracking.
