As of this writing Spring has come to North America (May 2014). It's always a delight to see life return to familiar landscapes. There is something comforting as well as beautiful in the symmetry and balance found in the natural world. I have tried to capture a little of this mesmerizing renewing of life in this music video “My Heart”.
The lyrics for the song My Heart were written by poet Christina Georgina Rossetti (1830 – 1894). She was an English poet who wrote a variety of romantic, devotional, and children's poems.
My heart is like a singing bird....
"My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me."
Christina Rossetti 1830–1894
