Aurora is a reference to both the Northern Lights and the character in the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" who is the epitome of vibrant feminine energy. Aurora means: new dawn, and this work was inspired by the idea of new beginnings that occur throughout life. The representation of the dancer as embodying the aurora borealis, use of glitch, and borealis-like palette evince spectacle and awe, ephemerality, and newness. The solar cycle is at its height in 2024, and so the world is treated to a preponderance of the beautiful natural phenomenon of the auroras. This piece connects the body to solar activity and this cycle in our existence.
