The Mori Arts Center Gallery of Tokyo hosted from the 31st of October 2009 till the 17th of January 2010 the prestigious retrospective exhibition “The Spirit of Beauty” scanning over 100 years of creation by Van Cleef & Arpels.
Named after a famous Van Cleef & Arpels clip in the form of a fairy, “The Spirit of Beauty” has unveiled to visitors: jewels, timepieces, fashion accessories and objets d’art, in all over two hundred and fifty pieces.
In an original scenography by Patrick Jouin, who has orchestrated this exquisite ensemble, the 1000sq meters of the Mori Arts Center Gallery were transformed into a dreamlike journey. Placed under the protection and magic of fairies, the exhibition was built around four themes: The Spirit of Nature, The Spirit of Elegance, The Spirit of Adventure and Incarnations. A wondrous stroll at the heart of Van Cleef & Arpels’ style! The exhibition was an opportunity to discover the French Jeweller’s savoir-faire, the enchantment of exceptional precious stones and the brilliance of several generations of jewellers. And to delve into the thousand and one stories belonging to each jewel that make up the History of Van Cleef & Arpels.
