The NSA revelations of 2013 have changed the way we look at information and surveillance. The whistleblower behind the revelations, Edward Snowden, is currently residing in Russia with a temporary asylum, and it has become a hot dispute in Europe whether to grant him permanent asylum or not in one of the EU member states after his current one expires in July.
The German Bundestag deputee Hans-Christian Ströbele met Snowden in the end of last year. We met him in Berlin to talk about the meaning of the revelations for EU-U.S. relations. We also talked to street artists Various & Gold who have portrayed Snowden together with 12 other persecuted individuals in their series "Witches".
This is a production for the topic Digital Revolution - the Future of the Internet of the European Youth Media Days that will take place in Brussels May 8 - 11th, 2014.
