Just testing out the Magic Lantern hack to shoot RAW. I want to do a short film with this hack, but really needed to test the shooting and workflow. So I had my girlfriend walk around a playground next to my house while I shot, handheld, with a 70-200 2.8 lens.
I converted the CDNG files to 4:4:4:4 ProRes, and did my editing and color correction on a FCP 7 sequence, with just 3 way color correctors. I added film grain in the "Bad Film" filter too. I was watching "Domino" by Tony Scott, and decided to match his color schemes. This was all done simply and I've never had so much control over the colors. Being able to isolate different shades of yellow was wild, and so much fun.
I'm convinced I can do a film with this workflow and will be doing more very soon... it's a scary, but fun hack if you want to try it.
