Strategies for Crossing the Street came about from my genuine need to come up with a strategy to crossing some of the major intersections in Mexico City when I was visiting there in fall of 2013.
This video highlights some of my observations. But it is just the beginning. I'm asking for the pedestrians in Mexico to add their own stories to this tale!
Send in your video or audio to laura (at) mindthegapmovie.com.
Recording by phone are great.
Here are some questions to help you tell your story:
1. Dónde estamos: Intersección, Ciudad
2. Qué está pasando realmente: Describe la situación/problema de tráfico
3. Qué es importante? Cómo nos afecta?
4. Qué podemos hacer al respecto?
Alternatively, you can tweet your short story or suggestion to @mindthegapmovie.
Or tag a photo of your favorite challenging intersection, #mindthegapmovie, #crossingthestreet.
According to the study, Pedestrian Traffic Injuries in Mexico, (Hijar, M, Vasquez-Vela, E and Arreola-Risa C,) there are approximately 9,500 traffic related pedestrian injuries in Mexico City, per year! Let's start a pedestrian revolution and bring that number down!
