The River Ganges is considered sacred for Hindus. Pilgrims journey from around the world to spread the ashes of their loved ones into the holy water, believed to bring their spirit closer to Moksha.
Along the Ghats of the ancient city of Varanasi, a few families have been safeguarding these funeral ceremonies.
It's believed that drinking from the Ganges as a child will bring you good health.
Sadly the river contains high levels of pollutants from chemical factories & sewage. Perhaps surviving a drink from the Ganges will ensure you live a long and healthy life.
