Uaim, Uait, From me, from you
Cugham, Cughat, To me, to you
Seolfad coineall uaim,
Ar sruthán cughat,
Baineann an píosa ealaín suiteála seo le scaolieadh, ligint uait. Thánaig an pobal le chéile chun soithí beaga as cré a chruthú, cuirfeadh coinnle ionta agus lasadh iad. Cruinnigh an pobal le chéile bruach na h-abhann ag an Muileann ag clapsholas. Sheolamar na soithí beaga ó imeall an trá, Bhí gluaiseacht agus áilleacht ag baint leis an íomha seo.
For this installation pots made from clay are carried along a watercourse out to sea, strong candle wicks in the pots helping them remain lit despite the elements. Coinnle gheala ag snámh le sruth. A candlelit procession to the sea.
People are brought together in the making of the simple thumb pots and again on the occasion of their being released onto a watercourse on their way to the sea and the unpredictable humours of the weather. Flickering spots of light reflect onto the water, creating a natural elemental light show as they meander along the waterway, each one following an uncertain path of their own which echoes the emotions of Life's journey.
The healing elements of working with clay, creating clay form, the concept of making a floating vessel from clay and the culmination of their release builds a real community experience. The power of many - ní neart go chur le chéile – ensures that each person contributes to the departing flotilla of flickering lights which make for a magical, even joyous experience for all involved.
