Erotypes was designed in the course held by Leonardo Sonnoli in 2009 at IUAV University of Venice.
The aim of the course was to combine eroticism and types in a single project.
In my opinion, something is Erotic when is not completely revealed.
My project is about Voyeurism: in this “perversion” the real fetish is the pure image and it is more gratifying as it is more difficult to get.
Erotypes is a small fetish photographic book: erotic fetishism is linked to typographic fetishism by the pleasure obtained by composing an “erotic letter”.
Using types, I focused on recreating the feeling of peeping through Venetian blinds: pushing the slats up and down the voyeur composes his own image.
In Erotypes a woman is spied through the alphabet’s letters: types’ shape is the only space from which her body is visible. The pictures of this “typographic peep-show” had been cut horizontally into 3 parts, mixed together and collected in a book in which each picture has to be recomposed by the reader.
