Experimenting with a new-for-me camera location for my GoPro camera (Hero2); right on the top of my helmet. Previously I've only been using the Chest-Mount location to shoot video on my Supermoto.
So once I got it mounted, using my best-guess of the angle to position the camera on the mount... I headed out to this little trail that I know of right inside of the town that I live in.
Looking at my video, possibly I should have angled it up just a little bit more, so that the video can see further ahead, or possibly it's just revealing that I need to look further ahead?
The drop-off on the side of the trail does have me a little tense still...
I haven't ridden this trail very much, but feel it's a little gem-of-a-find inside of my town :) You can see in the video, how I didn't make the hill the first time; street-sportbike tires (Michelin Pilot Powers), plus low momentum didn't do me any favors.
Then I went & did a short street-run for comparison sake, vs the Chest-Mount. I'm not sure why yet, but there seemed to be much more wind-noise then I've experienced before with my camera. I don't know if has anything to do with me attaching it to my offroad helmet for the first time, vs my normal streetbike helmet? The camera was right behind where the wind flows through the visor... Maybe it's just because the camera was right up on top & in the wind.
I think in some ways, that I prefer the Chest-Mount location that I've been using previously. One reason that immediately comes to mind is that the Chest-Mount is more stable & isn't darting left & right as quickly by every head movement.
But anyways... I'm hoping to improve my skills on my SuperMoto this summer... hoping to get better at riding it offroad; yet still with the sportbike tires on it. As well as to continue playing around with video :)
