Together for a better world
For almost 350 years, Lund University has been a driving force in the development of society through world-class education and research. The artificial kidney, the ventilator, ultrasound diagnostics and Bluetooth are all the result of our research. By combining curiosity and skill with an interdisciplinary approach, we work for a better world. Active collaboration with different sectors of society and business is a key factor in our success and crucial to the University’s future competitiveness. We educate the leaders and specialists of tomorrow, and innovators and entrepreneurs meet and found new companies. Yet we are not content.
The globalisation of society creates many new, more complex challenges, which means that the need for research and education has never been greater. We seek cures for widespread diseases, we conduct research on how to improve schools, we strive to tackle the threat of climate change, and we work on new ways to supply the global population with food and clean water. At the moment, two world-leading facilities for materials research are at the planning and construction stages in Lund. MAX IV and ESS will give Lund and the surrounding region a whole new international significance.
The basis of Lund University’s success is our students, lecturers and researchers. We attract the best talent through both our history and our drive to be a university that keeps up with the times. We will continue to do this, but the new challenges and expectations of developments in society demand more resources. Now we are turning to you to help us shape the future.
The fundraising campaign “Lund University – For a better world” is a massive joint effort. It follows in a long tradition of giving, in which patrons, foundations and businesses have supported the activities of the University since 1666. As a donor, you help to ensure that Lund University can continue to be a world-class university and play an important role in the development of society. Together, we can work for a better world.
