The Jumeirah Group comprises some of the world’s finest hotels and residences, including the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and the Carlton Tower in London, but this is its first hotel in Spain.
With 120 rooms and suites, it’s a fairly large hotel, but because it has been divided into 11 low-rise structures, connected by scented gardens, it looks and feels intimate. Understated interior design, in a palette of soft earthy shades, featuring indigenous woods and local crafts, create a warm and peaceful ambience, while large terraces or balconies in every room provide superb views of the mountains or the sea.
One of the things we love about Jumeirah Port Sóller Hotel & Spa is the ultra-cool infinity swimming pool, each of its chic white sun-loungers shaded by an equally chic white parasol. No children under 12 are permitted in this pool, but there’s a supervised pool elsewhere on the property.
There’s lots do in Port de Sóller, which is linked to the traditional Mallorquín town of Sóller by a lovely old tram. There’s a sandy area for swimming and a larger beach, Es Repic, just around the bay – but we recommend hiring a boat and finding your own private cove along the coast.
