This summer Embrace Theatre will tour an original play celebrating the richness of Saskatchewan’s outdoors, presenting it… outdoors in Saskatchewan! With the support of Saskatchewan Parks and other Saskatchewan organizations, this outdoor play for families will travel the province, entertaining thousands of people in many communities.
Utilizing traditional scenes, music, clowning, puppetry, and anything else we can think of, we want to tell the stories of Saskatchewan’s outdoors and share them with the people of Saskatchewan. This play is being created in a truly innovative way: using a Facebook page which invites anonymous story submissions from across the province, our audience has helped and continues to help create the play.
Two young siblings are taken from their accustomed urban world of video games and TV for a family camping trip. Despite their initial reluctance, the wildlife, the freedom, and the glow of the campfire give them a new understanding of themselves, their family, and their world. With actors taking on multiple roles, manipulating puppets, playing instruments, singing, and telling stories, audiences of all ages will be taken on a spectacle-filled journey into Saskatchewan’s outdoors.
