Kelp forest regeneration after kina removal

Nicole Miller

Seaweed is regrowing on a kina barren after volunteers removed over 12,000 kina (sea urchin) from the project site in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington Harbour. The video shows the regeneration after 5 months and 17 months close to the remaining kelp forest and on the deeper parts of the reef.
Monitoring and video by Nicole Miller, Explore Your Coast and Project Baseline Wellington.
