My short film 'Never Never Land' explores the degradation of childhood, through the deconstruction of iconic imagery taken from Super 8 Disney film reels.
Clips can be seen from such movies as Bambi, Peter Pan and Dumbo. Media that was birthed out of the early 1940's and 50's. This nostalgic footage has been deconstructed through the use of bleaching, scratching and painting, over the original organic chemical quality.
The effects of these techniques alongside the surreal soundscape, demonstrate the process of growing up, where the mystical play zone of our imagination is demolished. I have purposely used clips that show the more menacing side of adolescence. I have also included colour enhanced clips of Horror Films released between the 1930's and 1960's.
