Be warned - images are a little gory.
Harbour porpoises are Britain's smallest and most common cetacean. They are also at great risk of death due to ship strike, with fishing impacts being the number 1 cause of cetacean death. Grey seals are the most common species of seal in the South of England, after the winter storms in late 2013/early 2014, many young were injured.
This sort film shows a team of scientists performing an autopsy on a harbour porpoise which died due to entanglement in fishing gear, and a seal that died of natural causes. It was filmed when working with a team to live stream & document the event for Exeter bioscience students. The audio is a little varied due to lack of space around the lab.
