Presented at Goethe Institute Amsterdam, indietronic meister Jan Jelinek new original score for a selection of videos by British and Dutch artist duos Semiconductor and Broersen & Lukács.

Jan Jelinek’s approach is all about the transformation of sound, about translating parameters of popular music into abstract, reduced and textural electronics. Bypassing the rules of traditional musicianship, he prefers to construct collages from tiny sound fragments, from the lost-and-found products of samplers, tape recorders, media players and other recording implements. To this end, Jan Jelinek often works with loops and slight modulations to distil the gist of a piece of music and define it more clearly while masking its original source.
Producing music and performing under different aliases (Exposures, The, Farben, Gesellschaft Zur Emanzipation Des Samples, Gramm, N. Gratin) and in groups (Center Of Excellence, Groupshow), in 2008 Jelinek started the label faitiche as a platform for his own sound experiments.

Since 1999, the English artists’ duo Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt have been working under the name Semiconductor, with an approach to the world around us that is scientific and artistic at the same time. In their work, the artists intelligently and playfully make phenomena visible that human beings cannot normally perceive by their senses, revealing the occurrences hidden behind everyday reality.

Broersen & Lukács create videos that employ footage in a number of ways, including scenes they have filmed themselves, images appropriated from television news reports, and digitally animated segments to create flowing,

Selected video:
Prime Time Paradise NL, 2004, 11'00"
A spatial collage out of innumerable television images devoid of their original context. In an eternal 'now', and within the simultaneity of events, the viewer floats through this infernal landscape, in which nothing is fixed, everything is possible and nothing can touch you.

Jan Jelinek's score of Prime Time Paradise was released in 2013 on Faitiche.
