Naples - April 2008
Part II - from Gambrinus' cafe, standing at one end of the Piazza del Plebiscito, through the ramparts of the Norman "Castel dell'Ovo" and on up to the gaping mouth of Mount Vesuvius.
To imagine blazing hot molten rock being blasted kilometres into the sky from that crater was awe-inspiring.
Vesuvius is considered the most dangerous volcano on the planet because it is active, unpredictable and (heaven forfend) has a population of 3 million in range.
Music: Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, 801, Steve Hackett.
