With lots of celebrity mummies such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Jessica Alba and Drew Barrymore practising yoga, and a recently published study finding that mums-to-be who take up pregnancy yoga are less stressed and have a reduced fear of childbirth ITV’s ‘This Morning’ invited YogaBellies® Founder and Birth ROCKS author Cheryl MacDonald along to speak about the benefits of yoga for ladies during the perinatal period as well as incorporating baby into your practice when they arrive.
Cheryl, along with some of our lovely YogaBellies® teachers and mummies demonstrated some relaxing and strengthening postures. Cheryl talked our prenatal ladies though a yoga posture which helps release tension from the shoulders, our postnatal mummies where then shown how yoga can help relieve back pain and finally Cheryl spoke about how practicing yoga alongside your baby and toddler can be great for bonding.
This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby admitted she wouldn’t be without her yoga practice during her pregnancy. She practices twice per week to control anxiety and keep calm. Holly commented “The breathing is a really important thing.”
