British troops fought the war in Afghanistan from more than 100 small frontline outposts around Helmand Province – the most dangerous area of the country where hundreds of British soldiers lost their lives. Conditions for troops working in these remote areas were austere and tough. Sally Lockwood went to stay with soldiers at the very last base in their final days as they prepared to pull out and return home.
