What would it look like to be immersed in the presence of God? But that’s just what is being captured when we practice water baptism. In preparation for our Baptism Bash (antiochcc.com/events/dedication-baptism-bash/) on June 1st, Jimmy Seibert preaches on just what it means to come to the waters of this ancient Church tradition.
We see baptism all over the new testament. John the Baptist did it as an integral part of his ministry, and all throughout the book of Acts we see people repenting and being baptized as an outward sign of faith in Jesus. Baptism can be a picture of repentance, but also an act of obedience that invites fresh power from the Holy Spirit to respond to God. No matter what, it is a sign to the world that the person being baptized is dead to sin and alive to God.
